Reflection

I'm happy with my end product.

It was a bit of a rush to get it finished in time, but I did and everything worked as it should. I tested it with I.E and Firefox and it worked, so hopefully there won't be any compatability issues.

I've learnt a bit lesson on the benefits of CSS and templates, which will no doubt enhance any future projects and also improve my general understanding of the internet.

Spoke too soon...

I just wrecked my website and I don't know why. I edited the size of the footer and then it disappeared. I think tried to re-insert it, which only made things worse.

Lucky, I hadn't done much since I uploaded my website, so I downloaded the previous template from the served and everything was back to normal! A lucky escape.

Big progress

I'm now 100% happy with the layout!

Now all I'm doing is tweaking and adding content. All of the sections have been created and everything works so far. I've added a little java which allows the user to add site to favourites, which is a popular fuction on many sites. I've also colour coded the scroll bar.

I've created a new Css rule for content text and another one for content media. These are to make everything in the editable content region center and also to add an overflow to keep things tidy.

To do:
Add more pictures to Photobucket album.
Consider adding a countdown timer.
Upload site to server.

Progress

Yesterday:
I fixed a little issue I had with my #container tag. None of my tags were going in the #container like I wanted them to, but this was because I set the definitions wrong and my tags did not fit!

Today:
I'm almost 100% happy with my template, so I've started adding content. So far I've made the index, pictures, video and location pages. Tne index just contains a little introduction text and that's all. I created a slideshow in Photobucket with village fete images, which I have now embedded and it looks and works exactly how I want it to. I have embedded some YouTube videos on the video page, which has worked, but not exactly how I planned it. Because the size of the videos are greater than the size of my content tag, it has stretched my page and I now need to work on making the page scroll rathan the stretch.

Second template

Here is my second template. I made this one a bit more minimal and cleaner than the other one, and it's what I'm going to go with. I've sliced up the images and parts I need to built my template with div tags in Dreamweaver, so that's my next task.

I'm having a bit of trouble making a container to keep it all center at the moment, but I'm managing well with the rest of it. I'm pleased with the progress so far.

Blog theme

First things first: I did not create this theme. The designer's footer is still in tact at the bottom of the page.

I found this free template because I'm really interested in the visual side of web design and wanted to see what the rest of the world are up to. I've had a look through the code and I actually understood rather a lot of it, more than I expected to, so the being taught the technical elements first has paid off.

I have manually edited some of the links and headings, and perhaps at later date I could try to make this template work at a bigger size - not sure I'm a fan of the border!
